Late summer is when golf societies earn their keep: order-of-merit finals, captain's days, presentation nights. It's also when the season's best merchandise decisions get made — because the society that sorts finals-day prizes in August and winter kit in September looks organised all year, and the one that doesn't hands out pro-shop vouchers again.
Finals day: the podium moment
Prizes with the society's name on them beat generic prizes at any budget, because they only exist in one place. The autumn favourites we produce:
- Winner's keepsakes — a commemorative plate with the trophy name and year is the piece that ends up photographed on a mantelpiece rather than lost in a drawer. Societies rarely think of it, which is exactly why it lands.
- Podium caps — an embroidered cap in a colour reserved for winners. Cheap to do, instantly visible at every future meet.
- Nearest-the-pin and longest-drive tokens — branded mugs and bottles keep the minor prizes fun without the budget disappearing.
Presentation night
The dinner is the society's shop window — the one night everyone's partner sees what the society is. A branded table presence (crested mugs at each place, a keepsake for committee members standing down) costs little and photographs like a proper club. This is also the right night to unveil next season's kit and take sizes while everyone's in the room — it saves the group-chat sizing chase entirely.
Winter kit: order in autumn, wear in spring
Societies that want new polos and caps on the first tee in April need to decide in autumn: design agreement, a proof, production and a winter buffer. The pattern that works is a two-item core — crested polo plus cap — in society colours, with an optional midlayer for the members who play through January. Keep the crest embroidery-friendly: simple shapes stitch beautifully; fine detail belongs in print.
The society captain's cheat sheet
- Finals prizes: order 3–4 weeks before the date, engrave-ready details confirmed early
- Sizes: collect at presentation night, not by message
- Quantities: members + 15% — there's always a January joiner
- Proof: approve one before production; crest colours on fabric behave differently to screens
Put your crest on it first
Committees approve pictures, not descriptions. Send us the society crest and we'll mock up the cap, polo and keepsake plate — free — so the vote at the next meeting is about something everyone can see. Then request a quote and finals day is sorted before the clocks change.
